The clock continues to tick as Casper is about to host one of the largest events this city has ever seen.
“Some people are thinking millions of people are coming,” says Anna Wilcox of the Eclipse festival.
Wilcox helped to lead Thursday’s “Business Blitz”, and even calmed some nerves for store owners around town regarding the turn out for the eclipse.
“Probably not a million, but let’s plan and prepare for say 35,000” added the executive director.
Every store in town will be involved in some way come August.
That includes Wyoming Optics.
“This is probably the first time for a lot of people. They’re going to have the opportunity to view a full eclipse,” says optometrist Kenneth Morse.
Particularly on CY Avenue, how do you deal with a mass of people in your parking lot?
“It’ll be interesting to see what we need to do and what we will do in regards to that. Maybe it will be better if we just take the day off and just watch it with everybody else,” Morse added jokingly.
However, all options for handling the eclipse will be considered.
Anna Wilcox says some people have gotten to see part of a solar eclipse in this region of Wyoming once, but the glasses for viewing were not available.
She says it will be interesting for them to see it for the first time.
